Hello! I’m a high school math teacher entering my seventh year in the classroom. I earned my B.A. from St. Cloud State University (major in Economics, minor in History) and an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University. I’ve been a licensed teacher since 2019 and hold an endorsement in Gifted & Talented education (2021). I’ve taught every level from PreAlgebra through Precalculus in traditional classrooms, and I’ve cotaught in SPED and EL settings—experiences that trained me to differentiate instruction, scaffold language, and support a wide range of learners. Outside class, I’ve worked oneonone after school helping students solidify concepts, catch up on assignments and assessments, and turn shaky grades into steady confidence.
My tutoring style is structured, encouraging, and goal oriented. We start with a brief diagnostic conversation to determine what their goals are and then create a plan to achieve that goal (e.g., raise a quiz grade, master factoring, or get ready for a unit test). During sessions, I break problems into calm, step by step routines, use multiple representations (algebraic, graphical, and verbal), and check for understanding with quick, low stress questions. I incorporate error analysis, vocabulary supports for EL students, and accommodations aligned to IEP/504 plans; for advanced learners, I add enrichment and challenge problems. Between meetings I can share targeted practice and short progress notes so students and families know exactly what’s improving and what’s next. My goal is simple: build durable understanding and the confidence to tackle new problems independently.
