I am an experienced elementary educator with a strong background in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction. I hold a bachelor’s degree and am nearing completion of my master’s degree in K–6 mathematics education. I have taught in elementary classrooms for five years and was honored to be recognized as my district’s Elementary Distinguished Educator of the Year. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students across a wide range of abilities and learning needs, helping them build strong foundational skills and confidence as learners.
My instructional approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including training in the Science of Reading and Writing. I focus on building students’ phonics skills, reading fluency, comprehension, and writing development through clear, structured instruction and supportive feedback. In math, I emphasize number sense, problem-solving strategies, and conceptual understanding, helping students move beyond memorization to truly understand what they are learning. I believe that when students understand the “why” behind a concept, their confidence and independence grow.
In tutoring sessions, I strive to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel safe to take risks and ask questions. I tailor each session to the individual child’s needs, learning style, and goals, whether they need homework support, targeted intervention, or enrichment. My goal is for every student to leave each session feeling more confident, capable, and motivated, with practical strategies they can use independently in and out of the classroom.
