I have always believed to be a great teacher you must be a great student. For a student to get fired up about learning, they must feed off the teacher's genuine enthusiasm. One trait I can trace throughout my life is an insatiable desire to learn. As a professional, that desire has come full-circle, helping others in their educational pursuits. One trait I can trace throughout my life is an insatiable desire to learn. As a professional, that desire has come full-circle, helping others in their educational pursuits. As a Latin honors graduate at the University of St. Thomas, I fully understand the value of helping others realize their learning potential.
For the past 8 years I have taught, tutored, mentored, and coached. I've tutored individuals and groups from kindergarten to undergrad. I have taught subjects across the board. I specialize in English, especially Writing, Psychology, History, and elementary through middle school Math. While tutoring, I focus on helping each student discover their unique way of learning and often employ deductive reasoning and socratic method to help students find their own answers.
I have coached youth girls and boys basketball grades fifth through tenth. Earning all-conference and all-state honors in high school and playing collegiate basketball, I bring a plethora of experience into coaching and encourage my players to combine skill with high-level knowledge of the game.
Along with Psychology, I studied English with an emphasis on writing at the University of St. Thomas, where I also served as a writing consultant encouraging college students’ involvement in reading and writing and guiding their development in expressing themselves effectively.
My entire life I've found myself deeply curious in Social Studies. To boot, I have traveled to over 40 major cities in 13 different countries, intentionally gleaning as much as I could from each area and culture, deepening my understanding of society and humanity as a whole.
