I have many years of experience teaching English Language Arts (ELA) to students of all ages and backgrounds. I taught ESL at a language institute for over five years. I am currently tutoring ELA students in elementary, middle, and high school. I also work with adults to prepare for the HiSET, GED, CBEST, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and other tests. I have a B.A. and M.A. with high honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and I have completed graduate course work in Teaching English as a Second Language at California State University, Sacramento. I have successfully passed the CBEST exam, a required test for teaching in California. I am a substitute teacher for the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before moving to Las Vegas, I taught ESL for over five years at a private language institute in Washington D.C., and tutored students there as well.

I received the highest grade in my upper-division, college-level advanced composition English class. Many students come to me because they cannot pass the essay writing portion of their standardized tests like ACT, SAT, CBEST, and GED. After working with me, they have been successful.
Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I have attended an in depth Bible study class called Bible Study Fellowship for over 10 years. I have taken a one year class in Genesis, Minor Prophets, the Gospel of Matthew and the Life and Letters of Paul. I have completed an independent study of Exodus or the Life of Moses. I believe that I have sufficient background to qualify to tutor in these areas.

I have earned a BA and MA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, CA and have taken graduate level course work in Teaching English as a Second language from California State University, Sacramento. When the CBEST became required in California, I successfully took that exam as well. I have over 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring English to foreign students as well as native speakers who need to pass classes or tests to further their education. I am currently tutoring students in preparation for the GED and English 101.

She taught me how to identify my grammar errors in my writing. Also, she helped me reorganize my essays. Super helpful. She was on time, and she knew for the second meeting what to focus on. She taught me how to identify all my errors and helped me understand why.
