I have 50+ years of classroom teaching and individual tutoring experience in many different disciplines, specifically in areas of AP English Language and Literature, grammar and composition. I have 50+ years of classroom teaching and individual tutoring experience in many different disciplines, specifically in areas of AP English Language and Literature, grammar and composition. On the AP level my students have scored in the high range. As a scorer and rater for the College Board, I have graded AP test essays and rated teaching methods for effectiveness as part of the national MET project. The SAT writing test is very similar to the AP essay tests, and certain elements of analytical writing are essential to successful completion of this test.

Good study skills are necessary for improving student performance. I have taught students how to manage their time effectively, write down assignments and prioritize them for best use of time. As an English teacher, I have taught students strategies to read critically, study vocabulary, and take good study notes for all subjects. Also preparing students for the SAT and ACT involved many study skills. I feel this qualifies me to tutor any student in how to study effectively.

Top notch AP Language Tutor

My son had 7 lessons with Sharon to prepare for the AP Language exam, and just received a 5 on the test. He thoroughly enjoyed every one of his lessons, which were tightly targeted to the material and skills with which he needed help, and highly effective. He felt so much more confident going into the test with all the strategies he learned from Sharon.
