Greetings,

Every meaningful pursuit begins with possibility—the recognition that where we are today does not define the limits of what we may eventually understand, accomplish, or become. Education gives us a means of turning possibility into progress.

I believe learning should do more than help a student remember information or perform well for a moment. Meaningful learning should deepen understanding, expand capability, and prepare one to apply knowledge to unfamiliar problems and challenges.

That progression is personal. Students arrive with different experiences, strengths, gaps in knowledge, goals, and preparation. Effective instruction begins with the learner: understanding where the student is, clarifying where the student wants or needs to go, and providing purposeful guidance toward that destination.

My approach to education grew through decades of tutoring, scientific inquiry, and academic experiences at the University of Arizona and the University of California, Berkeley. Training as a scientific researcher strengthened my ability to examine complex problems, identify meaningful relationships, and communicate difficult concepts without sacrificing their substance. Those experiences shaped my philosophy.

The objective is not simply to know more. It is to develop knowledge that can be understood, retained, applied, and extended—and to navigate problems that once seemed beyond reach. As understanding grows, so does the ability to recognize new possibilities and pursue goals with greater clarity, confidence, and independence.

That philosophy is embodied in the name Mindscopeducation. I think of one's mind-scope as the field of perceived possibility—the scope of your dreams and the potential you can presently imagine. As understanding and capability grow, that scope expands and reveals possibilities once beyond your view. My purpose as an educator is to help transform that perspective into realized potential.

I look forward to assisting you along your journey.

Cheers,

David H.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have over 20 years of experience tutoring mathematics, including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, and standardized test preparation. My approach to Algebra II focuses on helping students understand the relationships behind the mathematics rather than simply memorizing procedures. I work extensively with equations and inequalities, functions, polynomials, rational and radical expressions, exponentials and logarithms, complex numbers, sequences, and other core Algebra II concepts. I also specialize in identifying foundational gaps that may prevent a student from succeeding with more advanced material. Once those gaps are addressed, I progressively develop the student’s problem-solving ability, mathematical reasoning, and confidence. My goal is for students to do more than earn better grades in Algebra II—I want them to develop a strong mathematical foundation that prepares them for Precalculus, Calculus, and future STEM coursework.
Biology

Biology

I hold multiple degrees in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, where I completed advanced graduate study and laboratory research in biochemistry, molecular biology, protein structure, and related biological sciences. My scientific background allows me to teach biology from the underlying molecular and biochemical principles rather than relying primarily on memorization. I help students understand how concepts connect—from cellular and molecular biology to genetics, metabolism, physiology, and evolution—so they can apply what they learn to unfamiliar problems. I also bring over 20 years of experience tutoring students in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and other STEM subjects. I have worked with students ranging from middle and high school through AP, college, and standardized-test preparation. My teaching approach is individualized and concept-driven. I identify gaps in a student’s understanding, strengthen the necessary foundations, and progressively develop the reasoning and problem-solving skills needed for greater academic independence and success.
TEAS

TEAS

I have been able to provide tutoring assistance for the TEAS V exam for over five years. Additionally, I have been able to assist more than 12 individual students realize their desired scores. Most of my TEAS students originally resulted from WyzAnt inquiries. Moreover, a few of these students have provided feedback detailing their experiences. Over the years, I have been able to develop a successful, systematic approach towards ensuring that students can greatly enhance their TEAS V exam scores by addressing inconsistencies in their educational foundation.

Fantastic Tutor, works with Student's schedule

David assisted me a few quarters ago with 2 graduate level statistics classes as well as a Research Design class and I received "A's" in all three courses. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and patient in addition to working around my academic and work schedule. If I ever had a question outside of a session I could text or call him and he would consistently respond in a timely manner. I highly recommend David as he is an outstanding tutor who often went above and beyond to assist me in my academic endeavors.
