Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

Since 2008, I have helped high school students prepare for the math section of the ACT exam. Previously, I worked as a highly qualified teacher licensed in secondary mathematics. Professionally, I have passed three exams administered by the Society of Actuaries (SOA), in Probability, Financial Mathematics, and Statistics for Risk Modeling. I have an MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University, and am accredited as a Graduate Statistician (GStat) by the American Statistical Association (ASA).
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I excelled in Algebra 1 when I was a freshman in high school. My most vivid memory of that class was after a graded exam was returned, the teacher said, "There is one student who received a score of 99. He would have received 100 if he placed a period on his answer to the last question." He looked in my direction and the class laughed. I went on to pass the AP Calculus BC exam in my senior year, followed by three preliminary exams administered by the Society of Actuaries (SOA). I have an MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University, and am accredited by the American Statistical Association (ASA) as a Graduate Statistician (GStat).
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is one of the most common subjects that I have helped students with year-round, since 2008. Personally, I completed the course when I was a sophomore in high school, advancing to pass the AP Calculus BC exam in my senior year. Tutoring with me, students not only learn the material, but I teach them more efficient methods to solve problems in intermediate algebra.
Calculus

Calculus

Since 2008, I have tutored students in calculus courses. I passed the first two exams administered by the Society of Actuaries (SOA), which both use calculus. Previously, I worked as a high school teacher, licensed to teach mathematics through calculus. I passed the AP Calculus BC Exam in high school at age 17, and Multivariable Calculus in college at age 18.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

Since 2008, I have taught and tutored students through college level in both continuous (calculus) and discrete mathematics. This includes matrices, linear algebra, combinatorics, probability, statistics, and logic.
Finance

Finance

In 2016, I completed a graduate course, with a grade of A-, in Theory of Interest from Columbia University. Later that year, I passed the Financial Mathematics exam administered by the Society of Actuaries (SOA). I have since earned an MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University, and am accredited by the American Statistical Association (ASA) as a Graduate Statistician (GStat).
Geometry

Geometry

Since 2008, I've helped middle and high school students succeed in geometry. I have also helped students of all ages prepare for geometry problems on various standardized tests, including ACT and SAT. I have previous experience as a highly qualified teacher licensed in secondary mathematics. I passed high school geometry with an A at age 14.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I earned an A in this course at UNLV. It comes natural to me, and is a subject I enjoy. I have successfully tutored students in this subject over the years at both the high school and college undergraduate level.
Logic

Logic

Since 2008, I have tutored students in geometry, especially two-column proofs. This is how logic is conventionally taught at the high school level. I have also tutored students in logic at the college level, including the CLEP exam in College Mathematics.
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

Excel has always been one of my favorite computer applications, in the classroom, on the job, and off the job. As an Actuarial Candidate, I have used spreadsheets for pension plan administration, for balancing investment portfolios, and for predictive modeling of stock option pricing.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Since I began tutoring professionally in 2008, an important part of my practice is helping students improve pre-algebra skills that limit their learning performance in higher level math courses. Pre-algebra itself is a course that most students must succeed in to graduate. It is also helpful for everyday math tasks.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Passed the AP Calculus BC exam during my senior year in high school, and the third semester of calculus during my first quarter of college. Passed the first two actuarial exams administered by the Society of Actuaries, which both require calculus. Earned my MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University, and am accredited by the American Statistical Association (ASA) as a Graduate Statistician (GStat).
Probability

Probability

As an Actuarial Candidate, I passed the Probability exam administered by the Society of Actuaries. Probability was also included in the Mathematical Statistics course required for the MS degree in Statistics that I earned from Texas A&M University. I enjoy probability because of how much intuition is involved, as well as the challenge of solving diverse problems.
SAS

SAS

The SAS programming language was used in many of the courses for the MS degree in Statistics that I earned from Texas A&M University. In December 2019, I became a SAS Certified Associate. In May 2020, I became a SAS Certified Specialist. Since then, I have three years of industry experience that includes using SAS to analyze large datasets.
SAT Math

SAT Math

Since 2008, I have helped students prepare for the math portion of standardized tests, including the SAT. Previously, I worked as a highly qualified teacher licensed in secondary mathematics by the State of Nevada, Department of Education. I have an MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University, and am a Graduate Statistician (GStat) accredited by the American Statistical Association (ASA). Additionally, I am an actuarial candidate, having passed the first two preliminary exams administered by the Society of Actuaries.
Statistics

Statistics

Earned my MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University. Accredited by the American Statistical Association (ASA) as a Graduate Statistician (GStat), with three years of industry experience. Passed the exams in Probability, and Statistics for Risk Modeling, administered by the Society of Actuaries (SOA). SAS Certified Specialist with proficiency in statistical analysis using R and Python programming languages.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is one of the subjects that I help students with year-round. Visualization and diagrams are key to proficiency in this subject. This comes naturally to me. In my senior year of high school, for example, I passed both the AP Calculus BC exam and the AP Studio Art exam.

Knowledgeable tutor

I am a rookie with Excel and data analysis. Ken taught me how to use the data analysis in several easy steps. He is also teaching me how to interpret the data which is very important in my coursework.
