I’m Ken, a math and statistics tutor with over 18 years of experience helping students succeed from middle school through graduate-level coursework. I earned my MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University and am accredited by the American Statistical Association (ASA) as a Graduate Statistician (GStat).

I also have professional experience in applied analytics and data science, including statistical analysis in financial services. I am a SAS Certified Specialist and have experience using SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, and Excel. I have passed three Society of Actuaries exams: Probability, Financial Mathematics, and Statistics for Risk Modeling.

Before becoming a full-time tutor, I worked as a licensed secondary mathematics teacher. My tutoring approach focuses on building understanding, improving problem-solving skills, and helping students become more confident and independent learners.

All tutoring sessions are conducted online.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

Since 2008, I have helped students prepare for the ACT Math section by strengthening both problem-solving strategies and underlying math skills. I previously worked as a licensed secondary mathematics teacher and have an MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra is the foundation for nearly every higher-level math course. Since 2008, I have helped students improve their skills with equations, functions, graphing, and problem solving while building confidence in mathematics.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is one of the most common subjects I tutor throughout the year. I help students master intermediate algebra concepts while developing efficient strategies that prepare them for precalculus and beyond.
Calculus

Calculus

Since 2008, I have helped students succeed in calculus courses ranging from high school AP Calculus through college-level coursework. My background includes an MS degree in Statistics, actuarial exam preparation involving calculus, and prior experience teaching mathematics as a licensed secondary teacher.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

Since 2008, I have taught and tutored students through college level in both continuous (calculus) and discrete mathematics. This includes matrices, linear algebra, combinatorics, probability, statistics, and logic.
Finance

Finance

I completed graduate coursework in Theory of Interest at Columbia University and later passed the Society of Actuaries Financial Mathematics exam. My background combines finance, statistics, and quantitative modeling.
Geometry

Geometry

Since 2008, I have helped students succeed in geometry, including proofs, diagrams, transformations, and problem solving. My background includes prior experience as a licensed secondary mathematics teacher.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

I earned an A in this course at UNLV. It comes natural to me, and is a subject I enjoy. I have successfully tutored students in this subject over the years at both the high school and college undergraduate level.
Logic

Logic

I help students develop logical reasoning skills through topics such as propositions, truth tables, logical equivalence, proofs, and mathematical argument. My experience includes tutoring geometry proofs and college-level logic concepts while emphasizing clear, step-by-step reasoning and problem-solving strategies. I work with students to strengthen their understanding of deductive reasoning, proof techniques, and the logical structure behind mathematical arguments. My goal is to build confidence by helping students understand not only how to solve problems, but why each step is logically justified.
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

I have used Excel extensively in education, financial analysis, actuarial work, and statistical modeling. I help students and professionals use Excel for calculations, analysis, visualization, and problem solving.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Many students struggle with advanced math because of gaps in foundational skills. Since 2008, I have helped students strengthen arithmetic, fractions, equations, and problem-solving skills needed for success in algebra and beyond.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Since 2008, I have helped students build the algebra, functions, and trigonometry skills needed to succeed in calculus. My background includes an MS degree in Statistics, actuarial exam preparation, and teaching experience in secondary mathematics.
Probability

Probability

Probability is one of my favorite areas of mathematics because it combines intuition, logic, and problem solving. I passed the Society of Actuaries Probability exam and studied probability extensively during my MS degree in Statistics at Texas A&M University.
SAS

SAS

The SAS programming language was used in many of the courses for the MS degree in Statistics that I earned from Texas A&M University. In December 2019, I became a SAS Certified Associate. In May 2020, I became a SAS Certified Specialist. Since then, I have three years of industry experience that includes using SAS to analyze large datasets.
SAT Math

SAT Math

Since 2008, I have helped students prepare for standardized math exams, including the SAT. My approach focuses on understanding concepts, recognizing problem patterns, and developing efficient solution strategies.
Statistics

Statistics

I earned my MS degree in Statistics from Texas A&M University and am accredited by the American Statistical Association as a Graduate Statistician (GStat). I have professional experience applying statistics in financial services and use statistical tools including R, Python, SAS, SQL, and Excel.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is a subject where visualization makes a major difference. I help students understand relationships between angles, graphs, identities, and applications rather than relying only on memorization.

Knowledgeable tutor

I am a rookie with Excel and data analysis. Ken taught me how to use the data analysis in several easy steps. He is also teaching me how to interpret the data which is very important in my coursework.
