I am inspired to teach, because I'm interested in bringing considerate thought and discussion into the classroom. My years teaching English Grammar/Composition, at the College of Southern Nevada, have been the most rewarding years of my career!! I'm dedicated to any task I undertake. When it comes to working with students and expanding their knowledge, I am patient, I am approachable and I believe in them, even when other people in their lives don't. I teach outside of the box. My methods are efficient and effective. Expanding the minds of people, broadening their global understanding and educating them about their culture and their significance in the American context, has always been an undertaking and a focus of mine. I believe that my strong liberal arts background from Vassar College has prepared me to teach courses in English Literature/Composition and Africana Studies. My Masters Degree in Journalism from The Medill School at Northwestern University has armed me with the skills to teach communications and media literacy courses. My extensive career with the PBS network, in the areas of Programming and Production, has inspired me to approach life and people with a passion to educate. BEST TUTOR I'VE EVER HAD!

With only a few weeks left before my college applications were due, I needed someone to review my essays, and look at my overall application package. I was applying only to very selective colleges, and I needed someone with expertise in grammar, as well as an understanding of the world of highly selective universities. Monica was the perfect fit. She was prompt, involved, and gave incredible thought to my situation, thus providing me with invaluable insight and feedback. I would leave our meetings with a sense of accomplishment and confidence. She balanced encouragement and constructive criticism perfectly. Right up until I pushed the "submit" button, she was on the phone with me, helping me double check every last piece. Monica was an absolute gift, and I am so grateful for her help!

Great Tutor!

Monica was a very helpful and patient tutor. She worked with me on my spelling, grammar and punctuation. I was having trouble passing the English section of the TEAS exam, so Monica helped me focus on the type of questions they ask on that exam. After meeting with Monica a few times I took the TEAS and I passed! Both my reading and my English scores improved dramatically, and I have Monica to thank. I could not have done it without her, and I appreciate all the help and support she gave me.
