I am Ann sensei. After living and working in Japan, I developed a deep love of the people, the culture and language. In college, I was able to dive deeper into the history and details of Japanese language. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Teaching Japanese with a minor in Social Studies and History. After graduation, I returned to Japan to teach English for a year.

I recently retired after teaching Japanese and World History in the school district in Las Vegas. During my 30+ years of teaching, I have worked with individuals and classes of 5-50 high school students. I have written the district curriculum, created resources and mentored teachers. I have created classes in Japanese language (levels 1-5 and AP Japanese Language and Culture), history, culture and literature. I have been the leader trainer of the local elementary, secondary and post-secondary Japanese teachers. I am certified by College Board as an AP teacher and have been an AP Reader. I have tutored individual students and lead Japanese Clubs and the Japanese National Honor Society.

I believe every student can learn to communicate in the Japanese language and develop an appreciation of the people and culture. Through exploring another country and language, students can develop a deeper understanding of themselves and appreciation of their own culture. I would love to help you learn Japanese.
