I have tutored hundreds of students in Statistics and related subjects, and through all of that experience, I have fine-tuned my ability to explain confusing concepts in a clear way, give tips for success, and provide material to enhance learning (such as visuals and practice problems). I have tutored hundreds of students in Statistics and related subjects, and through all of that experience, I have fine-tuned my ability to explain confusing concepts in a clear way, give tips for success, and provide material to enhance learning (such as visuals and practice problems). I have a flexible style, able to adjust based on the structure of your course and how you learn best. For example, I often work through assignments or practice problems with students, but I can also talk through lecture slides/notes from your course (giving you an opportunity to clarify and ask questions). I can even provide my own course materials, and I often use these materials to supplement learning for all of my students. My goal always is to help you, and I love when my students have “Aha” moments!
Background in Statistics and Psychology: I first provided group tutoring session for Psychological Statistics in my own undergrad program. During graduate school in Educational Psych, I took the required 4 quantitative methods courses and an elective in Multilevel Modeling (MLM), which I used for my dissertation research. I had RA and TA roles, where I applied class learning in real-life situations. After graduating with my PhD, I provided both one-on-one and group training and consultation to colleagues about various statistics topics.
Recent tutoring experience: For the past 3 years, I have been tutoring students online. I primarily tutor Intro to Statistics, though I also tutor AP Statistics, advanced-level Statistics, and more. My students utilize TI-84 calculators, Excel, SPSS, and R (with RStudio). Most of my students are traditional undergraduates in social sciences (e.g., psych) and health sciences (e.g., nursing), though I’ve tutored students from various majors and from 16 years old to 60+ years old!
