If you're looking for a tutor who can help you actually understand the material and not just get through the homework, you've come to the right place. I hold a Master of Science in Biology and a Spanish minor, and I have nearly 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring in Chemistry, Math, Physics, Spanish, and SAT/ACT prep. My background also includes published research and prior experience teaching Chemistry at the private high school level. Whether you're a middle schooler hitting your first wall in algebra or a college student working through organic chemistry, I've worked with learners at all those stages and know how to meet you where you are.
My approach is built around understanding the "why" behind concepts, not memorizing steps. In our sessions, I'll work to figure out exactly where the confusion starts and address it directly, using examples and guided practice that fit how you think. I've spent most of my career working one-on-one or in small groups, which means I'm used to adapting my explanations in real time based on how you're responding and not delivering a rehearsed lesson and moving on. Each session has a clear goal, and I check in throughout to make sure things are clicking before we build on them.
I especially enjoy working with students who feel behind, overwhelmed, or convinced that they're just not a math person or science person or language person. That kind of discouragement usually has a fixable root cause, and finding it is one of my favorite parts of the job. My sessions are structured and purposeful, but also low-pressure. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and trying things out without worrying about looking lost. The goal is skills and confidence that hold up long after our sessions end.

Approved Subjects

Biostatistics

Biostatistics

My Master of Science in Biology included graduate-level coursework and hands-on research in biostatistics, where I applied statistical methods to biological data using tools including R and Python. I have nearly 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring science and math, helping students build both conceptual understanding and quantitative skills. My published research required rigorous data analysis and interpretation, giving me real-world fluency with the statistical reasoning students encounter in biostatistics courses. I specialize in making complex analytical concepts accessible, whether a student is struggling with hypothesis testing, data visualization, or experimental design.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I designed the curricula and taught high school Chemistry at a private school. I have tutored high school and university level Chemistry since 2008.
Earth Science

Earth Science

My Master of Science in Biology provided a strong foundation in Earth and life science systems, including ecology, environmental science, and the biological processes that shape our planet. I have 18 years of teaching and tutoring experience spanning middle school through college-level science, helping students connect foundational Earth science concepts to real-world phenomena. My background in biological research deepens my ability to explain the interconnected systems — from geochemical cycles to ecosystems — that Earth science courses cover. I enjoy helping students who feel overwhelmed by the breadth of the subject find clarity and confidence through hands-on, conceptual approaches.
Genetics

Genetics

I studied genetics throughout both my undergraduate and graduate careers at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, completing my Master of Science in Biology in 2021 with coursework and research grounded in molecular and cellular genetics. My graduate research involved hands-on laboratory work that deepened my understanding of genetic mechanisms beyond the textbook level. I have 18 years of teaching and tutoring experience in biology and life sciences, guiding students through challenging genetics topics including Mendelian inheritance, gene expression, mutations, and biotechnology. I am skilled at breaking down abstract molecular concepts into clear, approachable explanations that help students succeed in their coursework.
