My name is Lalise G., and I recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Mathematics and Computer Science. My passion for math comes from enjoying problem-solving and logical thinking. I also love teaching math and helping students discover that it can be clear, approachable, and even enjoyable when explained the right way. I’ve been tutoring math for the past six years. I’ve worked with students from high school through college, both in one-on-one sessions and in group settings in areas such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I & II, and Differential Equations. I am also open to helping with other math subjects, depending on the student’s needs.
In tutoring sessions, I like to ask questions and encourage students to ask me as well, so I can check their understanding of the concepts. I also break down problems into simple steps and use relatable examples to make the material clearer. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students can feel comfortable engaging with math.
Throughout my experiences, I’ve had the privilege of watching students not only improve their grade but also grow in their confidence with math. I’ve worked with many students over consecutive semesters, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see them build a stronger foundation and, in some cases, even begin to enjoy math. One of the highlights of tutoring is seeing that shift from frustration to understanding is what keeps me passionate about teaching. I also find tutoring fulfilling on a personal level as it is an opportunity for me to learn something new, whether it’s a different approach to solving a problem or new perspective on a concept that I hadn’t considered before. Ultimately, my goal is to help students not only improve academically but also build a lasting appreciation for math that will carry over into other areas of their studies and beyond. Feel free to reach out and don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have.
