Hello! My name is Alexei, and I’ve been teaching and tutoring mathematics for more than ten years. I hold a B.S. in Mathematics from Mississippi State University, where I graduated with a 3.4 GPA. My teaching journey has taken me from supporting high school students in the United States to preparing learners abroad for competitive Math Olympiads, giving me broad experience across different levels and learning environments. Over time I’ve taught everything from foundational prealgebra and algebra to geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus, along with advanced topics like linear algebra and abstract algebra.

I began tutoring in high school and continued through college, working privately and in a campus math center. These experiences taught me how to adapt lessons to different learning styles and goals. Since 2020, I’ve focused full-time on online tutoring, creating personalized pacing guides and structured study plans while keeping lessons flexible and engaging.

My recent work includes helping an SAT student raise her math score after just a few sessions, supporting a geometry student who gained the confidence to excel after struggling early on, and even assisting a fellow tutor with proof-based mathematics so she could strengthen her own teaching. These successes reflect my belief that with patience, clarity, and the right approach, every student can succeed in math.

My teaching style is supportive and adaptable. I break down complex concepts into clear steps, connect ideas to real-world applications, and encourage active participation to deepen understanding. I also provide strategies for test preparation, from managing time effectively to approaching problems with confidence. My goal is to build both skill and confidence so students feel ready to tackle new challenges on their own. If you’re looking for individualized support in math—whether for classes, exams, or long-term improvement—I’d be happy to work with you. Feel free to reach out to schedule your first session.

ACT Math

I have strong experience tutoring ACT Math, covering algebra, geometry, trigonometry, probability, and problem-solving strategies under timed conditions. My approach focuses on building both accuracy and speed, while also equipping students with clear strategies to tackle challenging questions. I even had the opportunity to tutor another tutor who needed support in proof-based math so she could better guide her own student, and she gave me a full 5-star rating for the sessions. Many of my students have improved both their confidence and their test performance through consistent, focused practice with me.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have several years of experience tutoring Algebra 1, covering linear equations, inequalities, polynomials, factoring, radicals, quadratic functions, exponents, systems of equations, functions, graphing, rational expressions, absolute value, and word problems. I specialize in helping students strengthen their algebraic foundations and develop problem-solving strategies that prepare them for higher-level math. My teaching style breaks concepts into clear, simple steps, making abstract topics easier to understand. Many of my students have built lasting confidence and successfully advanced to Algebra 2 and beyond.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have extensive experience tutoring Algebra 2, focusing on quadratic equations, polynomial functions, rational expressions, radicals, exponential and logarithmic functions, complex numbers, conic sections, systems of equations, inequalities, sequences and series, probability, and trigonometric functions. My approach strengthens algebraic reasoning and analytical skills while ensuring students are well-prepared for exams and precalculus. I simplify difficult concepts into step-by-step explanations and provide strategies that build both understanding and speed. Many of my students have excelled in Algebra 2 and transitioned smoothly into more advanced courses.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I hold a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Mississippi State University, where I graduated with a 3.4 GPA. My academic background includes strong training in Discrete Mathematics, with experience in topics such as logic, set theory, combinatorics, graph theory, and mathematical proofs. I have applied these concepts in both theoretical and applied contexts, including algorithm design and data structure analysis. Additionally, I completed a Discrete Mathematics Certificate from Coursera, which further deepened my understanding of the subject through university-led instruction and real-world applications.
Geometry

Geometry

I have extensive experience tutoring Geometry, covering topics such as proofs, theorems, congruence, similarity, polygons, circles, transformations, coordinate geometry, trigonometric ratios, area, perimeter, volume, surface area, and constructions. My approach emphasizes both visualization and logical reasoning, helping students connect geometric concepts to real-world applications. I guide learners step by step, making challenging problems more approachable and engaging. Many of my students have gained stronger problem-solving skills and excelled in both classroom work and standardized tests.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have strong experience tutoring Prealgebra, covering whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratios, proportions, percentages, integers, factors, multiples, order of operations, expressions, equations, inequalities, basic geometry, measurement, perimeter, area, volume, and introductory statistics and probability. My approach focuses on strengthening foundational math skills while making learning interactive and approachable. I use clear, step-by-step explanations to ensure students develop confidence and accuracy. Many of my students have built a solid base in Prealgebra that has prepared them to excel in Algebra 1 and beyond.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have extensive experience tutoring Precalculus, covering polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, inverse functions, complex numbers, conic sections, sequences and series, probability, vectors, polar coordinates, parametric equations, and an introduction to limits.
