Hello! My name is Joshua and I am from Las Vegas, Nevada. I currently work as a Certified Temporary Tutor for the Clark County School District. My main responsibility at work is pulling small groups of students or individual students out of class to help them catch up on any lessons that they have missed or may be behind on. When I am not doing that, I am also licensed as a substitute teacher, so I do also have experience working with a whole class. I also have done long term subbing and have had the responsibility of creating my own lesson plans and teaching them. I have been mainly working with Elementary students (K-5th), but I am also interested in tutoring older students from 6th-8th graders. I graduated with an Associates in Marketing, but am looking to pursue a Bachelors in education and hopefully one day a masters.
My main method of tutoring is truly learning more about the student and connecting with them. I myself was a student not too long ago, so I know the best teachers were the ones who truly put the effort into getting to know me as a student and as a human. As an educator now, I try to the best of my capabilities, to connect with each and evert student I interact with. Once there is a connection, I will create lesson plans that can best suit their learning styles and personalities. I am not afraid to make my lesson plan entertaining for the student and connect actual topics that they are interested in into the lesson plan. I know as a former student that when a teacher takes time out of their day to create meaningful and unique lesson plans I am able to be as engaged possible.
