Hello! My name is Kirsten, and I graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Math and from the University of California, Irvine with a Master of Arts in Teaching. I also hold a single subject teaching credential in math. I spent the last two years teaching math and computer science at a public high school in Irvine, CA. I have extensive tutoring experience, dating back to 2016. I have tutored 350+ hours across 50+ students ranging from elementary school up to college in subjects such as K-6 Math, Intermediate Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Calculus 1, and Business Calculus. In addition to these subjects, I can tutor other math and computer science subjects as well.

I have been told by my former students that I provide clear, easy-to-understand explanations and that I have a lot of patience while tutoring. I believe that students learn best by doing, so I like to have them constantly working on a problem or activity, answering content questions, or explaining their thinking. I keep them on track by giving them specific directives (i.e., complete the next three problems, think about what strategy you would use to solve this problem, etc.) and a time frame, so that progress is being made throughout the session. Tutoring Policies:
-I have a 24-hour cancellation notice. Sessions that are not cancelled or rescheduled more than 24 hours prior to the scheduled session must be paid for.
-I prefer online sessions, but am open to in-person sessions at a local library or coffee shop.
