Hello! My name is Hiroko. I am a Japanese national living in the U.S. and have been teaching Japanese for over 20 years. I am passionate about teaching. I believe it is the most rewarding job! I am currently teaching Japanese at a major university and I have experience teaching at various places including colleges, private high schools, and companies. I have taught students ranging from 8 years old to adults. I started tutoring when I was a university student and I have had many tutoring experiences since then. I teach private lessons which I customize according to the students’ needs. I can teach Japanese as a foreign language or to Japanese heritage students who already have Japanese proficiency due to native speakers at home. I have taught AP Japanese exam preparation lessons with excellent AP exam results. I use a variety of materials including textbooks available in the U.S. to the materials I bought in Japan.

AP日本語の練習クラスと小学生から高校生の国語を教えた経験も多くあります。日本のバックグランドがある（家族に日本人がいるなど）人の為のレッスンもできます。

I graduated from a university in Tokyo and went to graduate school in Connecticut. I have a master’s degree in TESOL so I have an academic foundation in the acquisition of a secondary language. I taught English in Japan for three years and moved to the U.S. around the year 2000 and I have been teaching Japanese ever since.
I teach online only. My rate is for one-on-one lessons per hour. Group lessons are possible if all students’ Japanese proficiency levels are the same. (Additional $15 per person)
