I’m Ajay. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minor in Biology as well as MIS. Through my college studies, I realized I enjoyed studying and learned more when my professor was engaging and relatable to students. Whether it was a high-level class such as Advanced Accounting or a foundational class such as Bio I, I gravitated towards the subjects when the professor was more relatable with the material. When I needed additional help, my professors were always an email away and their responsiveness was top-notch! The students I currently tutor would attest to the fact that I would email them to help with problems or reach out to them to make sure the lesson we just had ‘clicked’ with them conceptually. I create lesson plans to engage my students and I explicitly teach the material in a way that broadly covers topics and concept specifics. I make sure that students can formulate a problem or rephrase the solution in their own words. I adapt my teaching style and strategies to the student’s learning style (visual, auditory, read/write, or kinesthetic).
I taught for 4 years at a high school level in Algebra I, Algebra II, and statistics. I also taught English/Language Arts for a year as it was also part of my teaching certification to teach English at the 9th-grade to 12th-grade level. I worked directly with students who required more help or additional support on concepts that didn’t quite make sense in the lecture portion of the class. To prevent students from feeling left behind, I frequently used small groups to have students who understood the material help guide others in the group.
I seek to help students so that they have an authentic understanding of a subject. Ultimately, I want to guide students in becoming self-sufficient in the material that we are covering. I welcome individual learning material from the students or their parents. I try to be responsive to emails within 24 hours. Feel free to contact me or ask for assistance on concepts or even schedule a lesson!
