About Tera

Bio

I have been playing the violin for 19 years now, and have expertise in music production and above average working knowledge of music theory. I also am able to help with English and Korean. I spent 2 years teaching English in South Korea, so I have the patience that most native English speakers do not possess when it comes to teaching a different language.
I have also tutored my peers in music subjects at my alma mater, Nazareth College. I do online tutoring and teaching currently.

I know how difficult it is to learn Korean as a native English speaker. I will be able to explain things to students better than someone whose first language is Korean (since they learn it intuitively and might not have good explanations for why a sentence is structured a certain way). I started teaching myself Korean in 2015, and then went to Korea for 2 years to teach English in a small town. The vast majority of the population in that town did not speak English so I was forced to use Korean every day in order to communicate and do basic everyday tasks. My pronunciation is close to native level, so students will get an accurate, detailed lesson from me every time.

I had to get certified to teach English in Korea, so I currently have a 120 hour TEFL certification. Teaching English to Korean students was a great challenge for me, and I tried my best to bridge the gap between the languages with games and other engaging activities.

Music has been my entire life! I started piano at age 7, then picked up violin at age 9. I have pursued music throughout my academia and graduated summa cum laude from Nazareth College with a Bachelor's degree in Music. I have spent a decade making arrangements on YouTube, and my music production knowledge has grown vastly throughout those years. Learning music theory in college was a lot of fun, and I keep that dynamic when tutoring others in the subject.

If I sound like a good fit, do not hesitate to contact me! I would be more than happy to help your knowledge and expertise grow. Let's schedule a le

Violin and Viola teachers

Every parent knows the importance of a good violin teacher. Tara has been a very good violin and Viola teacher for my two daughters. She has been very patient and makes the string lessons fun. In addition, she cares enough and shares material which will be useful for my childrens' symphony auditions. I would you recommend Tera!

Tera Gives 200%!

Tera is a fantastic tutor. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to make sure you understand the material and get what you need. She helped me to learn OBS software so that I could start my YouTube channel. She taught me more than I thought I needed when I started. I'm very grateful for her help and highly recommend her.
