I have 29 + years of experience as a classroom teacher: seven years in the middle school level and the rest in the high school/post graduate level. I really enjoy teaching vocabulary, writing and reading comprehension. I enjoy helping students realize their potential. I believe it is important for students to realize that everyone is intelligent in different ways, and we all have our strengths.
During the 29 + years, I also taught GED Prep in adult education, College English, Ethics, and Sociology at the post high school level. Currently, I teach AP Literature and Composition, and I am a Jumpstart Instructor of Communications for the College of Southern Nevada.
I published a book of poems in 2008, titled "Freezing Bridges Under Burning Skies."
From 2021- Present, I tutor for Varsity Tutors. I helped a student improve six points in his current ACT exam.
I always provide and prepare for a lesson. One of my favorite lessons is helping students improve vocabulary development. I focus on three strategies for assisting students with multiple choice, matching and fill-in-the-blank questions:
parts of Speech, key Words and signal phrases, and context clues.
I help students think, evaluate and solve problems with common sense, intelligence and creativity.

As a former teacher, I have patience and understanding. I also expect students to take an active role in the learning and thinking process.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Education from California State University Long Beach with a GPA of 3.4
I hold a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Counseling from University of Phoenix.
I also hold a TESL Endorsement ( Teaching English as a Second Language) as well as a Single Subject Teaching License in English and Counseling. All three endorsements are from the State of Nevada.
