Bio

My name is Elena and I am a native Spanish speaker from Argentina. Regarding my experience in tutoring, I have tutored ESL, Spanish and French for beginners at CSN for three years. Currently, I am working as an instructional assistant at an elementary school level for students with special needs.

I finished a B.A in Spanish with a minor in French. Also, I took translation courses in Argentina and UNLV. In addition, I have an A.A in Hotel Management. In addition, I am a certified translator and I am taking a course to become a medical interpreter.
In my spare time, I love exercising with my DVD’s at home. Exercising gives me energy and makes me feel great. Moreover, I enjoy reading mystery books, listening to jazz, classical and soft music. My passion is to travel and to visit interesting places. Among other activities, I like learning.

In my opinion, the key for success is to have patience, persistence and confidence. Therefore, I always encourage students and give them compliments. Every student is unique because they have different learning styles as well as different learning paces. Students appreciate when a tutor understands their needs and desire to succeed.

Since I am bilingual, I was able to explain the differences in English and Spanish grammar, so they could understand better and feel more confident. I also helped them with conversation, writing and reading. They had successful tests too.

Also, I use worksheets and white boards which students love. I am very patient with children and I do my best for them to learn.

Patient, knowledgeable and genuine Spanish accent

My daughter, Ellen, has 3 classes with Elena. Ellen is a beginner of Spanish study. Elena is very patient and knowledgeable in her class. After every class, Elena left homework and will do quiz in next class in such a way help Ellen to review what she's learned. Ellen likes her Spanish class.
