Hello prospective students!
I have more than 15 years experience in real estate spanning investment, development, and asset management. While tutoring in this format is new to me, I spent 7+ years training and managing teams of analysts. I took a very hands-on approach to training and mentoring them until they were ready to spread their wings.I have been told by many that I have a way of explaining things in an easy to understand manner. I also realized that the most rewarding aspect of my work was the teaching- watching new analysts grow and blossom. So why not focus on the part of my work that brought me the most joy?
There are many on this platform who can teach you general financial modeling but I am one of few who day in and day out spent their time creating institutional grade real estate financial models. My teaching experience comes not from tutoring students but from teaching analysts how to succeed in a real-life business environment.
I have a bachelor’s degree in economics & finance from Bentley University as well as a master’s in real estate finance from Cornell University. After graduate school I began working at a real estate private equity firm which has over $15 billion under management. There I helped to build out their analytics platform. I created many of the business processes and associated financial models that we used company-wide for acquisitions, budgeting, forecasting, valuations, and portfolio analysis. I have the most experience in office, hospitality, and multifamily assets, but the fundamentals apply to all product types. I also worked on venture capital deals within the real estate space.
As a manager part of my responsibilities included sourcing and hiring new analysts. I have read thousands of resumes and conducted hundreds of interviews while trying to find the most promising candidates. From first hand experience I can tell you what hiring managers are looking for and how to make your candidacy more attractive.
