Oligens S., MSN, RN, is a seasoned nursing professional and educator with a rich background in both clinical practice and academic instruction. His journey into nursing began in 1998 when he volunteered as a translator for Kosovo refugees in Albania during the Kosovo War. This experience ignited his passion for healthcare and caring for others.

Oligens S., MSN, RN, is a seasoned nursing professional and educator with a rich background in both clinical practice and academic instruction. His journey into nursing began in 1998 when he volunteered as a translator for Kosovo refugees in Albania during the Kosovo War. This experience ignited his passion for healthcare and caring for others.

After relocating to the United States in 2000, Oligens pursued formal nursing education, earning an associate degree in nursing from Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan, in 2005. He further advanced his education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Madonna University and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.

At Utica University, Oligens teaches courses such as “Care of Populations and Communities,” “Medical/Surgical Nursing Care II,” “End-of-Life and Palliative Care Practice,” “Foundations for Nursing Care,” and “Introduction to Research Methods and Design.”

Oligens' teaching philosophy emphasizes respectful communication and cultural awareness in nursing. He believes that respectful communication is fundamental to building patient trust and delivering holistic care. His experiences during the Kosovo War highlighted the importance of cultural competence, leading him to advocate for its integration into nursing practice.
