Hello. I am Mykel! I was a National Honor Society & Jackie Robinson Foundation scholar. I scored a 32 on the ACT. My background is in business and nursing. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a concentration in Healthcare Management & Policy. I also achieved a 4.0 GPA with my Master of Business Administration - Project Management. I am currently enrolled in a Master of Science in Nursing program. The most engaging professors motivated me to push through the intense dual-degree undergraduate program I completed, which was much more manageable with their support. Similarly, my tutoring approach is to take the time to understand how I can best support each student by first understanding the student's goals, needs, and learning style. Then, I apply this - and my compassionate personality - to the content to help students grow in knowledge and understanding. I use the teach-back method to ensure the student understands the principles and applications of the content. Most importantly, I approach each student as an individual and adjust my approach to fit each person's unique needs.
I have 5 years of tutoring experience. I have 1 year of experience working with high school students in a 1-1, in-person format to improve their grades across a variety of classes such as Algebra, Biology, and Music. I also have 4 years of tutoring experience working with adult learners and college students in a variety of classes including Health & Social Sciences, Business, and General Studies (such as college math and writing). I provided support to these students in an online setting. I also have experience developing lesson plans for preschool and grade school students.
I want students to have a true sense of accomplishment after each tutoring session. To deliver the best experience, I have a 2-hour notice cancellation policy.
