In consideration of my accomplished education and volunteering, I have witnessed how transformative tutoring and helping students can be. I graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I am continuing my studies at Capella University, seeking a Master in Science for Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I work as a Substitute Teacher at an Elementary School, working with students from kindergarten to 5th grade in various subjects ranging from math, science, history, reading, and writing. Moreover, through time spent in university, I have helped fellow peers further their understanding of psychology, reading, and writing.
I am compassionate about helping students achieve optimal success. Every student and individual is different, and everyone has their own way of learning. Through patience and understanding, I can develop a program to meet the student's needs.
My tutoring philosophy is to ensure that every individual leaves with a thought, tool, skill, or piece of knowledge contributing to their overall well-being and success. With this philosophy in mind, I tailor my teaching methods to fit the individual needs of each student. I encourage active participation and critical thinking by asking probing questions, promoting discussions, and allowing students to develop problem-solving skills. With each individual having unique strengths and weaknesses, a program can be created that will encourage a deep understanding of the core concepts within a specific subject. Further, building confidence in academic success is crucial. Whether it is a small success or a large success, it is important to celebrate growth to build self-esteem and confidence in academics. My ultimate goal is to provide the skills and knowledge needed for the student to go on then and succeed independently in their academic journey.
