About John

Bio

I want to help you overcome math and science hurdles to advance at work or school. I have been a designer, engineer, inspector, and manager. I recently earned a master's degree in civil engineering, and I became more enthusiastic about my profession than ever. I found studying at home and online rewarding, but interaction face-to-face can clear away confusion and speed up learning.

I tutor math, science, engineering and English. My degree is in emphasizes water resources and business and project management, and I am delighted to share skills and insights I have gained through the years. I recently reviewed math through ordinary differential equations and applied much of it in hydraulic, process, and chemical modeling modeling. I use empirical and theoretical equations often in water system design. I would love to share my knowledge.

I'm seeking undergraduate or other students who want to improve their classroom or online class performance: just to get over a rough spot or on a regular basis.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I use algebra daily in to solve civil engineering design and construction problems. For example, the slope/intercept form of a line is used to set pipeline grades. Proportions are used for many problems, such as determining the proper chlorine dosage needed for a volume of water, or the predicted water pressure at a given point on a water main.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have studied calculus and statistics, which both require a mastery of algebra. I have applied algebra extensively in water system analysis, pollution control, and acoustics. Some other topics where I find algebra useful are soil mechanics and structural design.
AutoCAD

AutoCAD

I have used AutoCAD through many product releases for 20 years. I have attended Autodesk and employer workshops to increase my skills. I regularly use AutoCAD C3D to prepare site plans and construction details. I enjoy using AutoCAD and take satisfaction in sharing my experience-based knowledge.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Math is basic to, many aspects of daily working life and even personal finance. Math is USD in calculating costs, profits, taxes, and other variables. It is also usefull for estimating travel times, mixing ingredients, planning for retirement and myriad other activities. Learning shortcuts, such as mental calculations, rules of thumb, and common conversions can yield long-term personal satisfaction and productivity gains for anyone. I can help you develop and practice these skills, which will also help you advance more rapidly in other subjects
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I use trigonometry very frequently in interpreting maps and boundary descriptions. Trigonometric functions are built into much software, such as spreadsheets and drawing programs. To make full use of such software requires a solid grasp of trig.
