Hi! I'm Carrie and I have a B.A. in English and a minor in Spanish from Vanderbilt University and the University of Texas at Austin. I spent 15+ years as a professional project and program manager overseeing branding and marketing, creating internal governance programs, starting PMOs, and managing large-scale SAAS and website programs for both advertising agencies and Fortune 500 companies such as Dell and AMD.

Hi! I'm Carrie and I have a B.A. in English and a minor in Spanish from Vanderbilt University and the University of Texas at Austin. I spent 15+ years as a professional project and program manager overseeing branding and marketing, creating internal governance programs, starting PMOs, and managing large-scale SAAS and website programs for both advertising agencies and Fortune 500 companies such as Dell and AMD.

I am TEFL certified and I have spent the last five years traveling abroad and domestically, teaching ESL and ELA online to students all over the world. I also speak Spanish and am an avid photographer :) From being a project manager, a teacher, and a traveler, I have excelled at adapting to different learning styles, using real-world examples to help people understand complex and abstract concepts in an effortless way, as well as understanding different professional and cultural backgrounds. I find that understanding where you are coming from and asking the right questions makes our time together much more impactful and enjoyable!

I see tutoring as a collaborative and interactive experience. We both have valuable insight and experience to draw from to help you gain confidence and feel like you are getting the support that you need :)

I love helping people feel more self-sufficient in areas in which they might be struggling and I have fun doing it! I am energetic, enthusiastic, and encouraging :)

I love teaching children ESL, and Spanish, and being an English Literature Major, I enjoy writing and am great at helping with homework assignments, writing papers (structure, flow, rationale, grammar, and analysis)

I excel at pronunciation, vocabulary definitions, explanations, reading aloud, and spelling. I have an extensive vocabulary myself and enjoy helping others expand theirs :)

But I am also very open to other teaching styles if you have a preference. My goal is to help you get the most out of our time together as well as help you gain confidence and feel like you have the support you need :)

Art History

I have traveled all of the world, including Europe, the Middle East and Asia, taking photos and trying to see as much art and architecture that I could. Some trips have been planned with the explicit reason of seeing a specific exhibit or UNESCO World Heritage Site and nothing else :) From Stonehenge to Ankgor Wat, from the Valley of the Kings to the Louvre, or from the Duomo to the Vatican City, I have had the opportunity to see and experience so much of the world of art both home and abroad, always adding to my love of Art History that I developed in high school and college. In fact, the only reason that I did not end up getting my B.A. in Art History is because my parents wouldn't allow it, so I ended up going into Advertising as a career so that I could be around creativity, art and design. Some of my favorite artists are Rothko, Basquiat, Van Gogh, and Da Vinci.

I have a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Texas and a minor in Spanish. I also teach English as a Second Language and English Language Arts to children ages seven to 12. Reading, analyzing, and writing has always come very naturally to me. I was educated throughout middle school, high school, and college to argue or discuss a point of view through persuasion and examples given in the reading.
