I began shooting 16mm film as a freelance director/cinematographer...for projects like music videos, festival films, experimental film and video. After connecting into the advertising world of NYC (doing work for notable agencies like Kirshenbaum & Bond), I worked in Connecticut as a film and aesthetics teacher to high school students through a Yale University Mentor Program. After 15 years working commercially on the East Coast, I moved to Santa Fe, NM and started shooting, designing and publishing an Arts & Culture Magazine. This involved FASHION editorial photography, Product photography, advertising, branding, marketing and sales. I was selected to create an original international branding and advertising campaign for the Santa Fe Tourism Department, I taught Fashion Photography at Santa Fe Community College. I am an image maker at heart. I'm a cinephile. Great films are my first love. I have written extensively on film theory and criticism and I'm preparing a book of film criticism. My goal with every image is to represent emotional truth and present the product or idea with as much aesthetic value as possible. I believe in usefulness of dreams and I read philosophy.
I like Offering students a total mix of THEORY and PRACTICE. In my commercial work as a freelance Creative Director, I have used graphic design, photography, video production, image theory and production. I listen to students to determine their intentionality as an image producer and I help students achieve their vision and beyond. I help photographers get past their creative barriers. I believe in the Economics of Aesthetics which allows artists to produce great work at any budget. All art begins in the IMAGINATION. Having a direct link from Imagination to image is my specialty.
