I am an experienced writer, trainer, mentor, and interview coach with more than 30 years of professional experience helping students and professionals communicate clearly, persuasively, and confidently. I hold two master's degrees from Duke University and have worked with students, professionals, senior leaders, and organizations around the world.

I am an experienced writer, trainer, mentor, and interview coach with more than 30 years of professional experience helping students and professionals communicate clearly, persuasively, and confidently. I hold two master's degrees from Duke University and have worked with students, professionals, senior leaders, and organizations around the world.

I specialize in college and graduate school applications, personal statements, supplemental essays, scholarship essays, resumes, activities sections, academic writing, and interview preparation. I also coach professionals preparing for job interviews and other high-stakes conversations.

My approach is practical, collaborative, and highly individualized. For writing, I do more than proofread. I help students brainstorm ideas, identify the strongest stories and experiences, organize their thoughts, strengthen structure and clarity, and revise until the final piece is polished while still sounding authentically like them.

For interviews, I help clients anticipate likely questions, develop strong examples, structure answers clearly, and practice responding naturally rather than sounding rehearsed. I can also conduct mock interviews and provide direct feedback on both content and delivery.

I am new to Wyzant, but not new to this work. I have helped my own daughter and other students strengthen college applications and essays, and I have spent much of my career coaching, interviewing, mentoring, and training others.

Professionally, I have written and led successful proposals and funding applications that helped organizations secure more than $800 million in competitive funding. That experience has taught me how to identify what is most compelling in someone's story and communicate it with clarity and impact.

Knoledgeable and Patient tutor

Carol is very meticulous. She took my son's essay from a draft and, after several inquiries about the theme of the essay as well as my son's personal experiences, she helped my son to write a world-class college essay that we all feel very good about!
