I specialize in working with independent-minded teens and adults who are completing their GED and preparing for the next phase of their lives — college, trade school, military service, or a return to formal education. I also specialize in working with students with learning disabilities or the non-traditional learner. I myself am a non-traditional learner and have learned to overcome learning disabilities such as ADHD and Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NVLD). My philosophy with my fellow non-traditional learners is two-fold: we learn to honor and adapt your learning styles, but we also learn to overcome and strengthen. The world is not going to make accommodations for us once we are out of school and this is a balance we must strike. With many non-traditional learners, intelligence and creativity are in abundant supply. That said, society is not setup for us. That does not mean you cannot find success.
I believe in stressing what we are good at, while learning to navigate through the necessary steps that may not come naturally. This may include reading. writing. GED/HSE and college exams.
Non-traditional learners think independently, question systems, have complicated family or life situations, or simply did not thrive in traditional classrooms. I have experienced and overcome all of this and I am here to help you through.
I dropped out of high school, got my GED, worked and lived internationally, and later returned to education — ultimately earning a Master’s degree. I teach GED full-time at a state prison in New Mexico. Let's avoid going there.
My tutoring focuses on:
Building real comprehension (not memorization)
Re-learning how to learn
Developing confidence, structure, and academic discipline
Preparing students not just to pass the GED — but to move forward with clarity
If you or your family member is motivated, independent, and ready to finish what you started, I provide the structure, strategy, and guidance to help you do it.
