I am a tutor with the Moriarty Adult Read-Write Program, Moriarty, NM. I have been substitute teaching in Santa Fe and in Estancia for the past two years, primarily 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I am currently substitute teaching in both Santa Fe and in Estancia, NM. I work with about 20 students per class in third through sixth grade

My A.A., Elementary Education (2008) is from Central New Mexico Community College. I specialize in Math, Science and Language Arts, assisting locally in the GED preparation program.. I am pursuing my B.A. (2018) Elementary Education, New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, NM.

I believe that math is a steady stream of thought based on foundation skills. I use a lot of games to make the math fun and meaningful. My strategy is concept married to content, ex: plane geometry goes with square foot gardening, vertical gardening makes it 3D. My method is to pro-actively re-enforce base knowledge, ex: base ten number knowledge leads to fractions, decimals=metrics, integers leads to irrational numbers, leads to exponential numbers, etc. It is practiced and perfected procedures that just make sense. And one leads into the next; concepts into contents. So lets learn and have fun.
