Hi, I'm Jackson! I recently graduated from New Mexico State University with a Master's degree in mathematics. I also have a Bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from Texas A&M University. My tutoring career started at Texas A&M with the Math Learning Center on campus. There I tutored in 1 on 1 settings and small groups. I had the opportunity to tutor a wide variety of subjects including Calculus 1, 2 and 3, differential equations, and linear algebra. After I graduated, I started grad school at New Mexico State where I worked as a graduate teaching assistant as well. Once again, I had the opportunity to teach and tutor a wide variety of classes including pre-calculus, college algebra, calculus, as well as some research level mathematics. My tutoring experience is largely focused on undergraduate students though I have tutored high school students as well.
During my time as a tutor, I have come to realize that anyone is capable of learning mathematics at a deep level. What most students are missing is the access to proper resources and a teacher who is willing to meet them where they are and help shore up any difficult areas. I believe my experience has given the ability to work with a student to find what specific areas they struggle with and help build confidence in their mathematical ability. It is this personalization of mathematics that I bring to every tutoring and teaching session.
I want to be able to give my best during any tutoring and teaching sessions so I welcome any resources the students or parents can provide. This may include lecture slides or notes, assigned homework, project instructions, or difficult problems from class. I am easy to reach and will respond quickly. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions or concerns!
