I'm Alex. I have nearly a decade of teaching experience in Creative Media (Animation and VFX) as an Assistant Professor at New Mexico State University. I have a Bachelor's in Creative Media in Animation and Visual Effects from NMSU and a degree from Vancouver Film School's Animation program, both with honors.
In my classes, I've guided undergraduate students through every stage of the 3D animation pipeline, using software like Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, Sunbstance Painter, Premiere and more, resulting in about 400 student short films. I have taught both online and in person. Outside of my classes, I've mentored dozens of students one-on-one and led K-12 workshops on 3D modeling and sculpting fundamentals.
My teaching philosophy embraces that there is hardly one right answer, and that there are multiple solutions to most problems, encouraging students to find approaches that suit them while mastering industry workflows and tools.
Beyond this, my definition of success is helping my students become the best version of themselves. Technology is constantly updating, and the industry is continually shifting. I want to help my students become resilient and stay curious in this ever evolving field.
