I have a background in elementary education and have completed extensive coursework toward my master’s degree in education. My training includes LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) and Orton-Gillingham–informed instruction through iMSE, both of which focus on structured, research-based approaches aligned with the Science of Reading. This training has equipped me with a strong understanding of how children learn to read, particularly in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension.
I have experience working with elementary-aged students in both formal and informal teaching settings, including classroom instruction, one-on-one support, and homeschooling my own children across multiple grade levels. Over the past several years, I have worked closely with students in grades 1–4, with a particular focus on early literacy and foundational math skills. My approach is structured yet supportive, and I tailor each session to meet the individual needs of the learner, especially those who may be struggling or lacking confidence.
In my tutoring, I focus on building strong foundational skills step by step while creating a positive and encouraging learning environment. I use explicit instruction, guided practice, and repetition to help students develop accuracy and confidence. I have a strong interest in working with struggling readers and take care to meet them where they are, helping them make steady progress while fostering a sense of success in their learning.
