I have a strong educational background in my subject areas and over 40 years' experience as a teacher of English, Spanish, and Linguistics. I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and English, a Master's degree in Linguistics with Specializations in Spanish Linguistics and teaching English as a Second Language, and a Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics, which is the study of how to apply linguistics to the teaching of languages.

I have a strong educational background in my subject areas and over 40 years' experience as a teacher of English, Spanish, and Linguistics. I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and English, a Master's degree in Linguistics with Specializations in Spanish Linguistics and teaching English as a Second Language, and a Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics, which is the study of how to apply linguistics to the teaching of languages.

I started tutoring English composition as an undergraduate student. Later, as a graduate student, I taught courses in English composition and linguistics at the University of New Mexico, where I was studying. I also taught adult ESL at a community college. When I completed my Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics, I became a professor of students who were preparing to teach English as a Second Language. As a professor, I oversaw Masters' theses and Doctoral dissertations. This means I understand research design and can help students writing research papers, theses and dissertations. I am most familiar with APA style, and I am available to proofread academic papers, especially if they use APA style.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and also studied Spanish linguistics as part of my Master's degree. I first started studying Spanish in high school and moved to New Mexico so I could be in an area where Spanish is spoken. Since then, I have become very fluent in Spanish by being able to speak it here in New Mexico, and in my travels to several Spanish-speaking countries. Because I studied Spanish, I know a lot about its grammar and vocabulary, and because I am a good speaker of Spanish, I can help with speaking and pronunciation. I can also tutor students taking Spanish linguistics courses.

As a graduate student, I taught English composition for many years at the college level. Then as a professor, I taught BA, MA, and Ed.D. students who were preparing to become English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers. I have also proofread and edited many Master's theses and doctoral dissertations, and wrote a book about English grammar.

I taught English as a Second Language to adults for many years and then taught teachers how to teach ESL at all levels. I know a lot about English pronunciation, grammar and spelling. Recently, I volunteered to teach English language poetry to children in elementary school. I know a lot about how people learn another language and can use that information to teach English to non-native speakers.

I have loved grammar since I was in middle school. I know English grammar in detail, and can explain it clearly and give examples so students can understand it. In college, I tutored English composition at a writing lab, which also included teaching grammar. As a professor, I taught teachers how to teach grammar, and wrote a grammar book for teachers called "American English Grammar".

I studied linguistics for over 10 years and have three degrees in linguistics. My dissertation focused on the psycholinguistics of bilingualism. I have taught linguistics to students in various majors, especially to teachers who were studying to become teachers of English as a Second or Foreign Language, so they could apply their knowledge of linguistics to the teaching of English. I have a BA in Spanish and I studied Spanish linguistics as part of my Masters degree. I started studying Spanish in high school and then moved to New Mexico so I could continue learning Spanish in a place where it is spoken. Since then I have become very fluent. I have visited several Spanish-speaking countries, and have been told by Spanish speakers that they are impressed with my ability to speak the language. Since I studied Spanish linguistics, I understand how it is pronounced. I can identify problems students have with pronunciation and give them practice to overcome those problems. I can also help students read and write the language.

I love writing and am a writer myself. I started my teaching career tutoring college students in English composition in a writing lab. Later I taught English composition courses to freshman college students. As a professor of students preparing to be teachers of English as a second language, I taught my students how to teach writing. I am also very good at grammar and spelling, and wrote a book about English grammar for teachers. I have overseen many Masters theses and Doctoral dissertations and am familiar with APA style.
