HiHi, I'm Alex! I graduated magna cum laude with a Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from North Carolina State University. As a student, I found STEM classes to be the most challenging and most rewarding. I struggled with math and science, which led me to rely on professors and peers for guidance and insight. With the help of others, I was able to earn A's in Calc I, Calc II, Calc III, Physics I and Physics II by utilizing a three step approach:
1. Build confidence in foundational concepts
2. Focus on comprehension over memorization
3. Apply knowledge by practicing consistently
As a tutor, I hope to implement this method while adapting to the learning styles of students. I recognize that the needs of students are as unique as they are and I will make every effort to ensure students feel accommodated and comfortable.
During my time mentoring high school engineering students, I worked with mentees over the course of a semester to develop understanding of air quality concepts, data analysis and sensor technology. This involved identifying gaps in knowledge, targeted one-on-one instruction to build comprehension, and practical problem-solving to improve long-term retention. I always approach this work with patience, empathy and respect.
I am invested in the education and success of students. I offer a complimentary first lesson so students can experience quality tutoring risk-free. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions or to schedule a lesson!
