Hello! My name is Andy, and I’m currently a student at the University of New Mexico, where I’m working toward a degree in Business Information Systems. Alongside college, I earned my New Mexico substitute educational assistant certification, which has given me extensive classroom experience. Over the past year, I’ve worked in around 20 different schools throughout Albuquerque, spending the majority of my time at Hawthorne Elementary. During that time, I’ve supported students in every elementary grade level, including special education classrooms. As a bilingual tutor, I’m able to work with students and families in both English and Spanish, helping create a comfortable and supportive learning environment.
This summer, I’ve been tutoring rising sixth-grade students through Albuquerque’s summer reading program, where I’ve continued developing my teaching skills. While I enjoy helping students strengthen their reading abilities, I’ve also discovered a real passion for teaching elementary math. In addition to reading and math, I’m happy to help students with other elementary subjects, including writing, science, and social studies. My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and personalized because I know every student learns differently. I take the time to understand each student’s strengths, identify areas where they need support, and adjust my teaching approach to fit their individual learning style. Whether a student needs help catching up, completing homework, preparing for a test, building confidence, or getting ahead, my goal is to make learning engaging and enjoyable while helping them achieve lasting success. I genuinely believe every student has the ability to succeed, and I’m committed to helping them reach their full potential. I look forward to working with your family and helping your student grow both academically and confidently.
