Bio

I have a B.S. in mathematics (minor in music) and Ph.D. in statistics. Before graduate school, I tutored for about two years, roughly 15-20 hours week for a tutoring service at my University, tutoring college algebra, trigonometry, Calculus I, II, and III, differential equations, statistics, probability, and related subjects. Before graduate school, I tutored for about two years, roughly 15-20 hours week for a tutoring service at my University, tutoring college algebra, trigonometry, Calculus I, II, and III, differential equations, statistics, probability, and related subjects. I was also the team leader for the math group the second year I tutored there. Since then, I earned a PhD in statistics (in 2005) and am now an associate professor. I have taught courses such as Probability, Data Science, Biostatistics, and Statistical Inference to a mix of undergraduates and graduate students.

I started tutoring 2-3 hours a couple years ago, tutoring middle school and high school students in Algebra I and Algebra II, one of whom has autism. I am enjoying the experience and wish to do more tutoring. I am very patient, flexible, and I do not assume that students have all the fundamentals that are expected for the course they are taking.

I've taught and tutored calculus-based probability and statistical inference at the level Rice, Casella and Berger, and Ross to math/stat majors and engineering majors with topics ranging from sample spaces, conditional probability, and transformations of random variables to maximum likelihood and sufficient statistics.
