I have a PhD and a degree in Physics from University of Illinois at Chicago. I am a theoretical physicist with experience teaching at the college and university level. Despite changing from an academic path to working in industry I continue to tutor students on the side. I have always found tutoring to be more gratifying than instruction. As a tutor I can communicate more directly with students one on one and help them get past their blocks. If a student is serious about learning material I have been able to help students improve their grads considerably but helping them gain a clear understanding of the material.

Background in theoretical physics with extensive experience in applied math, modeling and simulation. I can tutor Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Multi-variable calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations. I have also taught mathematical methods in physics at the college level.

In my career I have taught all levels of physics at the undergraduate level, from general physics to advanced quantum mechanics, electromagnetic field theory, acoustics, and math methods in physics.

In addition to knowing these disciplines I have a strong background in teaching and learning methods. I've designed and taught courses for science teachers at the graduate level using workshop methods. I have a good track record with helping students understand and overcome issues preventing them from performing at a high level in their course work.

C++

I have been programming in C/C++ and other languages for a couple decades now, both in my research and for private industry. I primarily develop simulation software for a variety of systems. I also develop GUIs and other applications using open source software packages in C++. Examples include: boost, eigen, GSL.
MATLAB

MATLAB

I have been writing custom software for research and product development for over 20 years. Much of my work involves prototyping in MATLAB and other high level languages, eventually converted into C/C++ and other low level languages. I currently own a professional MATLAB license and have access to SCILAB and Octave (open source versions of the same).
