As a third-year English and Urban Secondary Education student at Rutgers University, I am passionate about fostering literacy and helping students excel in reading, writing, editing, and grammar. My goal is to become an effective teacher who can make learning enjoyable and meaningful. With a background in tutoring and working with young children, I am well-equipped to support elementary and middle school students, though I am open to working with all ages.

From 2020-2021, I served as a volunteer tutor, where I tutored a 9th-grader in creative writing. This experience honed my ability to create personalized lesson plans and instructional materials. Additionally, I have five years of experience working with young children as a counselor at my hometown's day camp, where I primarily worked with preschoolers but also engaged with students in grades K-3. This role allowed me to develop patience, creativity, and the ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
As part of my education coursework, I interned at an urban high school near my college campus from January-April 2024. In this role, I assisted an 11th-grade English teacher, providing additional classroom support for students. From May-June 2024, I have worked as a substitute aide for an elementary school, working one-on-one with students with disabilities. These experiences underscored the importance of tailoring instruction, and the need to connect with students on an emotional level to inspire effective learning outcomes.
In my tutoring sessions, I plan to use a variety of teaching resources and pedagogical methods to cater to the unique needs of each student. I believe in creating an environment where students' intellectual abilities are recognized in addition to the skills that need improvement. I have found that this approach helps students connect with their tutor and engage deeply with the content they are learning. My aim is to inspire confidence and a love for learning in every student I work with!
