I am an experienced English instructor with many years in the college classroom as well as extensive one-on-one tutoring experience. I have worked with high school students, college students, and adult learners across a wide range of writing needs, including academic and creative essays, composition and rhetoric, literary analysis, and literature-based assignments. My background in higher education allows me to help students navigate the expectations of college-level writing while also supporting developing writers who are still building foundational skills. Whether a student is preparing for an important essay, strengthening analytical writing, or learning how to express ideas more clearly, I tailor my instruction to their individual goals and level of experience.

My tutoring approach is grounded in meeting students where they are and discovering how each student learns best. Rather than simply correcting or editing papers, I focus on helping students understand structure, argument, clarity, and revision so they can apply these skills independently beyond a single assignment or course. I emphasize organization, critical thinking, and effective revision strategies, while also helping students build confidence in their own voice. One of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring for me is watching students grow more confident as writers and realize they are capable of more than they initially believed.

I strive to create a supportive, collaborative learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and improving their writing skills over time. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically, but also to help them develop lasting writing skills they can carry forward into future classes and professional work.
