Hi, I'm Arjun, a rising sophomore at Cornell University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Studies (Urban Planning) with a strong academic record. Throughout my high school and college years, I have consistently demonstrated academic excellence, which has enabled me to effectively tutor students of various age groups.
My tutoring experience began as a volunteer English, Math, and Social Studies tutor for kindergarten through second-grade students from 2019 to 2021. I then expanded my tutoring scope by becoming a one-on-one tutor for the French National Honor Society chapter at my high school from 2022-2023. In this role, I assisted freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with coursework in French 1, French 2, and French 3. Simultaneously, I also tutored fellow high schoolers in English language/composition and ethics as part of the National Honor Society chapter.
My approach to tutoring is centered around understanding each student's unique needs and adapting my methods accordingly. I incorporate a variety of exercises and styles to ensure that the material is engaging and accessible. For example, I use visual aids like diagrams and flowcharts to help students visualize complex concepts. I also create customized flashcards and study guides to help students reinforce their learning. Furthermore, I encourage active learning by incorporating hands-on activities and real-world examples to make the subject matter more relatable. By tailoring my approach to each student's strengths and weaknesses, I have consistently seen significant improvements in their academic performance and confidence. Additionally, regular communication with parents through phone calls, Zoom meetings, emails, or text is also crucial in my tutoring process, as it allows me to incorporate their feedback and ensure that my students are progressing effectively.
