I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and was lucky enough to have had amazing math teachers throughout my life. My interest in mathematics started in high school, followed me in my undergraduate career at Dartmouth, and eventually led me to Teachers College Columbia University for grad school, where I attained my Masters of Education in Mathematics.

As my teaching career grew, I focused on increasing the confidence level of my students. I learned how to pinpoint exactly what a student is struggling with, and how to help the student overcome those obstacles. My favorite part about teaching and tutoring was seeing students have that moment of clarity. Even though I have since left teaching to join the professional world as an actuary, I still love teaching, and I find every opportunity to do so in my free time.

My math interests started to takeoff due to my high school BC Calculus teacher, who was amazing. In college, due to his instruction, I was able to pass higher level math courses with ease. In grad school, while I took and excelled at many more math courses, I also gained invaluable experience on how to teach mathematics.

Finally, when I started my career as an actuary, my mathematical expertise expanded to probability and statistics, as the professional exams required to be an actuary require an advanced knowledge of both. I eventually attained my credential as an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, considered one of the most difficult credentials to attain, as it requires passing a series of 7-8 advanced math exams.

However, I feel my main qualification is not the vast math content knowledge I have acquired, but my experience on how to approach any subject, no matter what level, and assist a student to be able to understand the underlying concepts.

Actuarial Science

I have attained the Associate of the Society of Actuaries credential, which means that I have passed all the exams and modules required to attain it. I have worked as an actuary since January 2014.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra I is extremely important as it forms the foundational base for the rest of high school and college mathematics. During my years of teaching, I have developed a tool kit that raises both the number sense and confidence of students that initially struggle with Algebra, and many of my students have went from having anxiety about math to having it be one of their favorite subjects.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra II with great success during my time as a math teacher.

A natural born teacher!

Eduardo is a dream of a tutor. He really enjoys explaining the fundamentals of the concepts, and he does it thoroughly and patiently. Many things that my daughter's Calculus teacher at school says to memorize, Eduardo explains, and now my daughter knows exactly why an exercise is solved the way it's solved. He has an ideal personality for a teacher. He is always smiling and he communicates really great with my daughter. She's usually a bit shy around tutors, but Eduardo makes her ask questions, comment on exercises, and feel comfortable. We surely will continue with him. Thanks, Eduardo!
