My name is Cassidy, and I graduated from Duke University with a major in Sociology and a minor in Chemistry. I hold two masters degrees in education from Hunter College, one in Special Education and the other in Educational Administration and Leadership. I am certified to teach Adolescent Special Education and Chemistry.
I have over 10 years of experience as a high school teacher in New York City Public Schools. I began my career as a special education teacher, supporting diverse learners in integrated co-teaching (ICT) math and science classrooms. Four years ago, I transitioned to teaching high school science. Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geometry, and Algebra, which allows me to support students across multiple content areas.
My teaching experience includes preparing students for New York State Regents exams, and I also have experience teaching International Baccalaureate (IB) science courses. This has given me strong expertise in helping students succeed on both internal assessments and external exams.
In addition to my classroom experience, I have over 14 years of tutoring experience supporting both middle and high school students. I have worked with students one-on-one and in small groups to support coursework in math and science, as well as prepare for standardized exams such as the SAT, ACT, SHSAT, ISEE, and state exams. My approach focuses on building deep understanding, strengthening problem-solving skills, and helping students gain confidence in their abilities.
