Hi! My name is Kristen, and I am an adjunct mathematics professor at a public university in NJ. I also taught K-12 mathematics for 18 years. I am knowledgeable in a range of mathematics subjects, including Pre-Algebra; Algebra 1 and 2; Geometry; Trigonometry; Pre-Calculus; Calculus 1, 2, and 3; AP Calculus AB and BC; and any other related classes. I also tutor SAT Math, ACT Math, SSAT, HSPT, and ISEE. Specifically, I am familiar with the digital SAT Math and can provide test-taking strategies for speed and accuracy, helping to raise confidence levels. I support middle school, high school, and university-level students. Feel free to inquire about group lessons.
Before I start working with students on test preparation, I ask them to complete a baseline assessment, so that I can have a better understanding of their abilities. From there, we review the results together and establish personalized goals. I continue to conduct periodic assessments of student performance. I identify where students may be struggling, as well as opportunities for growth. This allows me to guide them toward a deeper understanding of the material.
In all my tutoring sessions, I ask scaffolded questions to support students' progression for successful understanding of new concepts and independent problem solving. My goal is to give students the confidence they need to succeed in any setting—whether in a classroom or a testing center. I also aim to create a dynamic, flexible, and comfortable learning environment.
In terms of academic experience, my degrees include a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, a Master of Education in Teaching Children Mathematics, a Master of Arts in Administration and Supervision, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership.
Please send me a message if you have any questions! I look forward to working with you!
