Basketball

I played basketball for 7 years (middle school and high school) on recreational traveling, middle school and junior varsity high school teams. I played guard, point guard and sometimes forward. I still play for fun with family and fiends. I help my husband with giving pointers to his recreational team in his league as well. I also teach my nieces and nephews how to play and how to enhance their skills with exercises, drills and practicing.

Public Speaking

I am an attorney in the state of California. Before graduating law school I took several public speaking courses, Trial Practice, Pretrial Skills, Negotiations, Appellate Advocacy (Moot Court) and did Moot Court activities at night as well. I was the president of several clubs as an undergraduate student and provided Know Your Rights presentations on several occasions. Additionally, for my jobs and internships, I have spoken before Superior Court judges and Administrative Law Judges in bench trials, hearings, motions and for internal meetings when presenting cases and discussing legal strategy. I have spoken in front of panels of attorneys when issue-spotting and brain-storming on case resolution for internal meetings in legal clinics. I also engaged in debates in my undergraduate pre-law and law classes. I can speak publicly very well, and I can explain tips and tricks to new and amateur public speakers so that they can hone their skills, become comfortable addressing crowds and authority figures. I can also train with exercises and lessons so that they retain those skills for life. I will help them with practice, coaching, feedback and outlining so that they become comfortable public speakers.

Study Skills

I taught freshman study skills at the college level as a college sophomore. This involved teaching a class, working with the instructor to determine grades, meeting with students one on one, figuring out class curriculum and helping students to determine a college, career and extracurricular plan. I also successfully completed law school and passed the California bar examination so I can instruct students on how to manage time, how to study effectively and efficiently, and how to prioritize.
