My name is Sean, and I have been an educator for over ten years at the high school and collegiate levels. In 2013 I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History from St. John's University. I then earned a Masters in Fine Arts from Fairfield University in Creative Writing, where I was also a Teaching Assistant and Graduate Assistant in the English Department. Following my time in Connecticut, I have since taught at the high school level for the past ten years. My experience runs the gamut from the standards of World Literature, American Literature, and European Literature to more niche subjects such as Public Speaking, Literary Censorship, Journalism, Modern Drama, and Shakespearean Classics. Currently, I am the AP English Language & Composition and AP English Literature & Composition teacher at County Prep High School in Jersey City, New Jersey, and have been so for the past four years. In that time over 95% of all of my AP students have scored a passing grade on their respective AP Exams, a standard far above the state, national, and global averages. I have been an in-person and online tutor on-and-off for about five years in total, for students from the middle school ages up to adults in education. My tutoring method for the past ten years is one of encouraging students to navigate the complexities of literature and language on their own, helping them find the confidence to succeed and grow in a way that connects real-world application to in-class theory.
