A Lighting Designer in New York City

I have completed my Master's Degree in Lighting Design and am currently working as a Lighting Designer in New York City.

Having done my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, I have a very firm background in AutoCAD and that has only been further polished due to an extensive usage of it in the course of my Master's degree and the day to day usage at my workplace.

The design field demands a firm hold over AutoCAD no matter what other software you use since that is the cornerstone of drafting and we at our office completely rely on AutoCAD for our 2D draftings.

I have a curriculum that I have developed that lets students explore different aspects of AutoCAD in a very uniform pattern and I make sure that by end of every class, I have cleared every doubt whatsoever so as to let the students be able move on to the next topic without anything holding them back.

My teaching pattern depends on the students expertise in the software. The usual approach is to start with the very basics, get that out of the way and then move on to more complex challenges.

Being a student myself (till a month ago), I understand the needs of students very well and how to address their queries and on the other hand, my professional work gives me an experience with gauging the mindset of working adults and how to address their queries.

A more personal approach rather than a strict professional approach is the way to go according to me. That gives the entire course a new experience which helps student to imbibe more on the whole.
