1) Discuss goals and expectations of both parents and students.
2) Discuss communication between parents and teachers in hopes of extending lines of
communication between myself and the teacher.
3) Observe student problem solving in an attempt to identify areas of difficulty as well as
either correcting or solidifying approaches to problem solving.
4) Teach or reteach topics, clarify areas of uncertainty or confusion, assist with homework,
and also provide direction or guidance on projects, papers, and presentations.
5) I do provide my email address and phone number so my tutees can send me issues or
concerns throughout week and not have to wait until the next session.

Knowing that I had wanted to be a mathematics teacher since 8th grade, I made it utmost importance to strive for a strong mathematics education program at a local, well-respected university. Earning a bachelor's degrees in both mathematics and secondary education at Rider University, I was well prepared to take on the challenges and rewards of being a high school math at a local high school from 2001 to the present. I have taught the full gambit of mathematics classes over that course of time including but not limited to the following:

2) Honors Trigonometry / Precalculus (Current since 2013)
3) Algebra 2 (11 years)
4) Honors Geometry (Current since 2016)

My high school math education experience has also allowed me to experience a variety of discrete mathematics topics. As a mathematics major and tutor at Rider University, it was necessary to understand Discrete Math.

At Rider University I took Finite Mathematics as an elective even though I was a mathematics major. I earned an "A" on all tests in the course and for the final grade. I can guarantee I am thoroughly educated and able to teach the subject.

Amazing tutor for homeschool student

I cannot speak more highly of Gary M.! We are a homeschool family with a son who loves math and science. Unfortunately, the math curriculum we had been using had some holes that became evident when preparing for the SAT and the SAT Math II exams. Mr. M. was able to come in and locate the gaps, and help my son close those gaps and then gain momentum. He invested the time needed, was very patient, always encouraging, extremely knowledgeable, and he really spoke my son’s language. I was especially struck by how Mr. M. taught so that my son understood fully. He was comfortable letting a question hang in the air while my son processed the answer--waiting for that light to go on. Listening from the other room, I could hear them both then get excited at those ‘ah ha’ moments from the kitchen table each week--so encouraging! They were able to cover the math on the PSAT, SAT, SAT Math II, and some of AP Calculus. We’ve received scores from all of these exams and my son received top marks on all of them, including a 5 on AP Calculus AB. None of this would have been possible without the help of Mr. M.!
