Hello! My name is Kati and I love teaching math and physics! I have a doctorate in nuclear physics from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and have been a teaching professor of physics for 8 years. I currently teach introductory physics at Princeton University, and have been there for the past 3 years. Prior to that, I taught intro physics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for 5 years. Additionally, I have tutored students 1-on-1 in math and physics for over 15 years and worked in drop-in tutoring centers as an undergraduate. As a graduate student, I worked as a TA and adjunct taught at nearby universities.
Teaching is my passion. I love helping students gain confidence in their abilities as well as develop an appreciation for the subject by introducing real-world connections, promoting active learning, and providing scaffolded lessons. I also have a strong belief in the value of peer-to-peer learning. As such, I have managed undergraduate physics tutoring programs at both Embry-Riddle and Princeton, hiring, training, and mentoring undergraduate peer tutors and course assistants. Though I find it incredibly rewarding to train the next generation of educators, I still love tutoring myself, and am thrilled to be able to continue working in this fashion. Helping students 1-on-1 is truly the most enriching and effective way to promote success.
Subjects I tutor include algebra- and calculus-based introductory physics (mechanics, electricity and magnetism, fluids, waves and oscillations and geometric optics, as well as some thermodynamics and modern physics). I also specialize in tutoring pre-algebra, algebra, pre-calculus and trigonometry. I love working with students of all ages, but have the most experience with college students and students in grades 7-12. Please reach out if you would like to schedule a session. I and am excited to work with you or your child to help them succeed in their math and/or physics courses.
