Hi, I’m Shannon! I am a certified elementary teacher with a Master of Science in Education in Literacy Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Spanish from Duquesne University. I am also Orton-Gillingham (OG) trained in structured literacy instruction.
I have experience teaching in elementary classrooms and supporting students across a range of reading and writing levels. I specialize in helping K–5 students build confidence and skills in reading comprehension, fluency, phonics, and writing.
My instruction is structured, supportive, and tailored to each child’s needs. I draw on research-based literacy practices, including structured literacy approaches, to help students strengthen foundational skills and become more confident, independent readers.
I especially enjoy working with students who need extra support in reading or who benefit from clear, systematic instruction. I also provide enrichment, homework support, and skill-building depending on each student’s goals.
My goal is to help students not only improve academically, but also develop a stronger, more positive relationship with reading and writing.
